The moon is raising high

The actors have begun the play

18th Birthday

My 18th birthday would've been the best
My 18 birthday would've topped the rest
But something lurked deep inside
Something that could easily hide
It sat there cold, dark, and mean
Burrowing deep where it couldn't be seen

No one could prevent the path I took
I had already been caught like a fish on a hook
Now here I lay deep at last
Forever a figment of the past
I shall never have that 18th birthday
But instead I'll be under the ground ready to decay
